Pat McCourt must be patient at Celtic - Neil Lennon
Celtic manager Neil Lennon was delighted to see Paddy McCourt cap a thrilling performance for Northern Ireland with two goals.
But he denied the winger had given him extra food for thought with his display against the Faroe Islands.
"I know Paddy can do that," said Lennon. "He would probably like to play more but he is a valuable squad member.
"He has just got to be patient like everybody else, the chance will come and he has just got to take it."
The former Derry City player netted two marvellous goals in the Euro 2012 qualifying win in Belfast, marking his first competitive start for his country in style.
McCourt moved to Celtic in June 2008 but has struggled to claim a regular first team place.
"He wasn't sure he would start the game so I am pleased for him," added Lennon, himself a former Northern Ireland international.
"It gave Northern Ireland a boost and he made a huge contribution and entertained the crowd which is what he can do.
"So he will come back full of the joys of spring."
