Cambridge United have agreed a one-month deal for Rossi Jarvis after the midfielder impressed in a pre-season trial period.
The 23-year-old left Barnet in May after two seasons, following spells at Rotherham and Torquay.
Jarvis told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I feel like I've got a buzz back in myself about playing the game.
"I'm a week or two behind on fitness, but I need to get fit and prove my fitness will be there."
He added: "Hopefully after that month we can go on and carry on with the season."
U's manager Jez George said: "I'm delighted that we've agreed initially a short-term contract with Rossi.
"He's an excellent footballer and we feel that as he gets fitter he will have a lot to offer the team."
