Colchester 1-1 Wycombe

Scott Rendell's penalty earned Wycombe a draw and ensured both sides preserved their unbeaten start to the season.

The U's went close when visiting keeper Nikki Bull saved from Magnus Okuonghae and then denied Kayode Odejayi.

But Colchester led when Ashley Vincent finished high into the net from eight yards following Michael Rose's cross.

Ian Henderson twice hit the woodwork for the hosts but Wycombe levelled in the 61st minute when Rendell slotted in after Rose felled Scott Donnelly.

Colchester boss John Ward told BBC Essex:

"People say the result is the be all and end all, but there's a a lot of good things to come from that football.

"We had a fantastic first half, played some excellent football and you've got to respect what Wycombe have done in the second period.

"It's a super league, there's some great teams in it and we're one of them."

Wycombe manager Gary Waddock told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"We were able to grind out a result and a very important point. We were up against a very good side.

"We allowed them far too much space in wide areas to get a cross into the box. We have spoken about it on the training ground but the only place you can put it right is on the pitch .

"We have players on the outside that are waiting for the opportunity. The players in the first hour or so today didn't perform. They have to make sure if they have that shirt on they have to perform"
