MK Dons boss Karl Robinson hunts 'special' defender
MK Dons boss Karl Robinson has said he will not bring in a new defender until he finds a "special one".
The Dons will be without the versatile Mathias Doumbe for at least the first month of the season because of an ankle injury.
"We're constantly charging forward to find this special one who can come into central-defence and right-back," Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio.
"We've got to fill the void, but I'm not going to bring in any old player."
He added: "I've got to bring in players that are going to affect things, makes us win and stops us conceding goals.
"I've got to find the right one, I've had a number of conversations with managers and players who have just been out of my price range."
Following a scan to 31-year-old Doumbe's ankle, Robinson said the Frenchman would be out for a month or even "a bit longer".
"When you think he was an ever-present last year and got players' player of the year, he's going to be a big loss to us," he added.
