Luis Boa Morte has left West Ham United by mutual consent, the Championship club have confirmed.
The Portuguese midfielder, 33, still had a year left on his contract at Upton Park but has been released to pursue a new opportunity abroad.
Boa Morte, who joined the Hammers in 2007, told the club website: "I am sad to leave West Ham as I have made a lot of friends here.
"It's also a sad day to leave playing football in England after 14 years."
Boa Morte, who signed a new two-year deal with West Ham last summer, made 109 appearances for the club, scoring twice.
He first moved to England with Arsenal in 1997.
His final season with the Hammers ended in relegation from the Premier League.
"Last season we fought to the end, but it was not to be," he said.
"I wish all the best to my team-mates and for the club to get promoted.
"I am looking forward to a new challenge. It is never too late to try somewhere and something different."
