Defender Jordan Rose has been offered a second trial by Crewe, with a view to earning a contract at Gresty Road.
The 21-year-old played for the Alex in a 1-1 draw against Nantwich on 22 July.
Manager Dario Gradi is keen to sign another defender after releasing Mat Mitchel-King, Patrick Ada, Ashley Westwood and Danny Blanchett in May.
Rose played 18 matches for Stockport last season but was allowed to leave Edgeley Park following the club's relegation from the Football League.
Meanwhile, the Alex kept up their unbeaten record during pre-season with a 2-1 home victory over Rochdale on Saturday.
Shaun Miller and Danny Shelley were on target for Gradi's side, who begin the season at Swindon on 6 August.
"We're playing like we train and I can't ask for any more than that," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke.
"If it's not right, it's my fault because they're doing what I'm asking them to do."
