Charlton 3-0 Bournemouth

Dale Stephens scored one and set up another on his Charlton debut as they comfortably overcame Bournemouth.

The Addicks took the lead when Stephens neatly finished into the left-hand corner of the net.

Scott Wagstaff powered home a second from outside the area from Stephens' pass before the Cherries' Marc Pugh wasted their best chance.

Bradley Wright-Phillips was fouled in the box by Adam Barrett to allow Johnnie Jackson to slot home a penalty.

Charlton manager Chris Powell told BBC London 94.9:

"It's been a long summer of change and we've worked really hard.

"I'm pleased and proud of my players because when you come to a new club, normally there are just three or four changes but I've brought in 14 players.

"But they've gelled really quickly off the field too, which was something I felt needed to happen."

Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury told BBC Radio Solent:

"We weren't fully at it today. At the end of the day, we've got to perform.

"It's a big blow, the lads were feeling confident and are now down. We'll learn from it, but we can't really ponder on it too much.

"It was a frustrating day, if the penalty had been given for us, it would have been a different game."
