Watford captain John Eustace has signed an extension to his contract, keeping him at Vicarage Road until 2013.

The 31-year-old, who was close to joining Leeds last summer, went on to play 42 times for the Hornets in the 2010-11 campaign.

Since joining from Stoke for £250,000 in January 2008 he has made 119 appearances, scoring 12 goals.

The former Coventry midfielder's current deal was set to expire in 12 months' time.

He is one of only three players over the age of 30 at Watford, along with defender Martin Taylor, 31, and new signing Chris Iwelumo, who is 32.
