Exeter City have confirmed the signing of midfielder Callum McNish after a successful trial spell at the club.

The 19-year-old was released in May by Southampton, where he made one first-team appearance in April 2010.

He will have his wages paid by the 1931 Fund, whose Grecian-supporting members pay a minimum of £19 per month to fund the player wearing the number 31 shirt.

McNish impressed manager Paul Tisdale in Exeter's pre-season friendlies, scoring two goals.

Chief executive Julian Tagg told the club websiteexternal-link: "The signing of Callum wouldn't have been possible without the 1931 Fund and it is once again a fantastic gesture from the supporters.

"He is just the sort of player that fans will get behind, a hard working youngster looking to kick-start his career at Exeter.
