Notts County's move for Charlton striker Paul Benson has broken down, reports BBC Radio Nottingham.
The Addicks accepted a £150,000 bid for the former Dagenham & Redbridge forward last week and Benson held talks with the Magpies over the weekend.
But the 31-year-old, who scored 10 goals for the London side last season, did not accept the terms.
Notts manager Martin Allen is now expected to turn his attention towards signing another striker.
Benson was at the club's pre-season friendly against Wolves at Meadow Lane and Notts had hoped to seal a deal on the day.
The Magpies initially set a date of Monday for Benson to accept the terms, but then further extended that deadline.
Meanwhile Charlton manager Chris Powell has said Benson could have still have a future at the Valley.
Benson scored 82 goals in 195 appearances for Dagenham & Redbridge before joining the Addicks last August.
