Lowestoft Town have secured the signing of Bulgarian midfielder Lubo Guentchev on a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old spent the final two months of last season at Crown Meadow, helping the Trawlerboys to a the Ryman Premier play-off final.

But Guentchev had considered a return to his homeland this summer.

"He was keen to go full-time and had gone out to Bulgaria with that aim in mind," said Lowestoft director of football Craig Fleming.

"His form towards the end of last season was exceptional and it caught several clubs' attention.

"We haven't broken the bank to get him here, he is within the budget we've set ourselves."

Meanwhile, Lowestoft defender Curtis Haynes-Brown has started his trial with Crewe by featuring in Monday night's 4-0 friendly win over Congleton.
