Ashby re-joined the Poppies to be Marcus Law's assistant manager

Kettering Town coach Roger Ashby is to stay at the club and work alongside new manager Morell Maison and first team coach Nicky Eaden.

Maison had said there was "definitely" a role for Ashby, who was assistant manager to former boss Marcus Law.

Ashby told BBC Radio Northampton: "It's a club I enjoyed being at as a player and assisting Marcus, so I was only too pleased Morell wanted me on board.

Ashby's 662 appearances (in which he scored 96 goals) is a Poppies record.

He re-joined the Blue Square Bet Premier side in a coaching capacity in December.

Ashby added: "I've been to several clubs as manager, and being assistant was far less stressful, so I'm quite happy to be an assistant here and I'll do what I can for the team."
