Jersey are through to the semi-finals of the Island Games men's football after a heated 2-0 win over Rhodes.

Ben Gallichan hit the opener from 25 yards on 77 minutes, with Mark Lucas netting late on from close range.

The game was marred by red cards for Rhodes' Panagiotis Mathios and Tilemachos Pattas who were dismissed for clashes following the goals.

Rhodes were also handed eight yellow cards and were booed off the pitch at Newport Football Club.

The two dismissals for Rhodes takes their tournament tally of red cards to four after they had two players sent off in their previous fixture.

Jersey are the reigning Island Games champions. Manager Craig Culkin said: "We've kept our calm and we've kept our cool.

"I'm just really proud of the players and our management and the way we've conducted ourselves.

"We've represented Jersey absolutely superbly."

Jersey top Group A with six points from two games, and are guaranteed a place in the semi-finals.
