Boss Di Canio holds off appointing Swindon Town captain
Swindon Town manager Paolo di Canio will hold off appointing a captain for next season until after the club's pre-season friendlies.
Midfielder Jonathan Douglas skippered the side last season, but he has yet to commit to the Robins for next season.
"I haven't decided yet because I want to know exactly who they are," Di Canio told BBC Wiltshire.
"For the first friendly games, no one will wear the armband. We will go on the pitch as 11 leaders.
The Robins start their two-week tour of Di Canio's native Italy on 4 July before fixtures against Swindon Supermarine, Cirencester Town and Championship side Reading.
"I want to work with them and speak to them," he added. "I want to be sure [whoever I pick] is a positive leader, not a negative leader.
"He must be a true professional and example for the others and a footballer who wants to train harder and harder every day.
"He must be a player, that in my mind, is a crucial player."
