Southport have completed the signing of Fleetwood defender Simon Grand on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old signed for Fleetwood last summer but made just four appearances before loan spells at Mansfield and Aldershot.
The Sandgrounders are preparing for a season in the Blue Square Bet Premier, although they could drop a division if Rushden & Diamonds win an appeal.
Boss Liam Watson told the club website: "It really will be a new look squad."
He added: "Simon will really contribute with his knowledge at this level and above. I look at him like a Neil Fitzhenry-style defender and I view Neil as my best ever defensive signing.
"I know Simon will set high standards and with Steve Akrigg I am building a new defence with Earl Davis as my third centre back and Kevin Lee can slot in there as well.
"I am talking to a number of players and have got agreements already in place."
