Blackburn Rovers striker Benjani to sign new deal

Benjani first came to England with Portsmouth in 2006

Blackburn striker Benjani claims he will return to the club next season after being offered a new contract.

The 32-year-old scored only three Premier League goals for Rovers last season and his contract has expired.

But the former Zimbabwe international revealed he has been offered a new 12-month deal by Rovers boss Steve Kean.

He told the Lancashire Telegraphexternal-link: "Yes, I will be back at Blackburn again next season."

"I think the deal will be finalised in the next few days and then I can look forward to doing my best with the club," he added.

"I don't know if there were other clubs who wanted me because I always wanted to come back to Blackburn. I hope that will be sorted now."
