Barnsley are set to sign defender Scott Wiseman and midfielder Matt Done from Rochdale for undisclosed fees.
The duo will join former Dale boss Keith Hill at the Championship club.
New Rochdale manager Steve Eyre told the club website: "They have the chance to play at Championship level and I'm not going to stand in their way.
"I also don't want players at the club whose hearts and minds aren't 100% Rochdale, so I'll give them my best wishes and move on."
Done, 22, signed a new one-year deal at Spotland last month and 25-year-old Wiseman still had a year left on a two-year contract he penned in June 2010.
The pair will rejoin Hill at the South Yorkshire club, after he left for Oakwell on 1 June.
Barnsley finished 17th in the Championship last season and open their campaign against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on 6 August.
