Bristol Rovers have signed ex-Yeovil Town defender Adam Virgo on a two-year contract, subject to a medical.
The 28-year-old was released by the Glovers earlier this week after failing to agree a new deal.
Virgo arrived at Huish Park from Brighton last summer and made 36 appearances last season.
"Adam could have joined a League One club, but is excited about the challenge of joining us," manager Paul Buckle told the club website.
"He has a fantastic pedigree and is a good leader. He is not only the right player, he is the right person for this club."
Virgo began his career with the Seagulls and spent five years at his hometown club before joining Celtic in 2005.
He struggled to hold down a first-team place at the SPL side and was loaned out to Coventry City and Colchester United before rejoining Brighton in 2008, where he made 76 appearances.
