Rotherham United have appointed Darren Patterson as their assistant manager.

The 41-year-old has agreed a three-year deal and will be reunited with Millers boss Andy Scott after the pair worked together at Oxford United.

The former Northern Ireland international, who won 17 caps, leaves his role as youth coach at Bristol Rovers to join the Millers.

"Darren is an excellent coach who is very experienced and enthusiastic," Scott told the club website.

"He works hard on the training ground and is good with the players and understands what they're about.

"He's played under some good managers and learnt some good things through his career."
