Luton Town boss Gary Brabin has made his first signing of the summer by bringing in Rushden & Diamonds striker Aaron O'Connor on a two-year deal.
The 27-year-old had reached the end of his Diamonds contract, where he scored 14 goals in 37 games this season.
Brabin has also opted to keep Alan Neilson as his assistant manager for next season.
Dimitri Kharine will remain as goalkeeping coach while physio Simon Parsell also stays on.
"We've got a good relationship between us all, Alan Neilson and I get on great," former Blackpool midfielder Brabin told the club website.
Former youth scholar O'Connor had spells at Ilkeston and Nuneaton before making his mark at Gresley Rovers, scoring 80 goals in 127 games between 2004 and 2007.
He then had spells at Grays and Mansfield before joining Rushden two years ago, where he has netted 27 times in the last 24 months.
The clarification over Neilson's role will rule out the possibility of Brabin bringing in his friend and former Cambridge United assistant Paul Carden as his number two.
Player-coach Carden spent the back end of the 2010/11 campaign on loan at the Hatters and is likely to shipped out by the U's over the summer as part of their ongoing cost-cutting exercise.
