Newly promoted Alfreton Town have signed defender Greg Young from York City.

The 28-year-old is manager Nicky Law's first signing of the summer as the newly promoted club prepare for life in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Law said: "I am delighted with the signing of Greg - we have been interested in him for quite a while.

"He will give us plenty of power and he has loads of experience from the level we are now at to bring to the team."

Young made 12 appearances for York this season after signing from Altrincham in August 2010, and he was loaned back to the Robins during the second half of the campaign.

He played under Law as a youngster at Grimsby Town, where Young began his career making 28 appearances for the Mariners.
