Derry City dropped three points behind Airtricity League leaders Shamrock Rovers as they were held to a frustrating draw by Bray Wanderers.

Patrick McEleney put the Candystripes ahead on 25 minutes with a close-range finish after a James McClean cross.

However, Derry were never able to subdue Bray and the visitors began to take control after the interval.

Darragh Doyle hammered in Bray's equaliser from 30 yards on 67 minutes as the Derry defence stood off.

It could have been an even worse night for Stephen Kenny's side as Tom Mulroy missed two late chances for Bray.

Shamrock Rovers defeated Drogheda United 3-0 on Friday night to extend their lead at the top.
