Paul Farman must earn new deal - Gateshead boss Bogie

Paul Farman
Farman has been with Gateshead for two seasons, making 50 appearances

Gateshead boss Ian Bogie has warned goalkeeper Paul Farman he must prove his worth if he is to remain at the club.

The 21-year-old has been offered a short-term deal at the International Stadium. although his position is in doubt due to the form of Tim Deasy.

"If he impresses in July he will stay at the club," said boss Ian Bogieexternal-link.

"If not then we will look to bring in another goalkeeper, Farman must not settle for being number two."

Deasy arrived at Gateshead from Barrow last season and established himself as first choice, limiting Farman to just six league appearances during the campaign.

Bogie added: "It was unfortunate that he [Farman] had to have an operation at the start of last season which kept him out until November.

"Hopefully he will show what he's capable of in July."

Farman joined Gateshead from Blyth Spartans in the summer of 2009 and has since made 50 appearances for the club.
