Barnsley have released five out-of-contract players, including winger Martin Devaney.

Also exiting Oakwell are former Wolves defender Matt Hill and academy products Danny Fearnehough, Conor Branson and Steven Bennett.

Devaney, 30, joined in the summer of 2005 from Watford and scored 18 goals during his time at the club.

His crosses were also instrumental in knocking Liverpool and Chelsea out of the 2008 FA Cup.

Devaney supplied the crosses from which Stephen Foster and Kayode Odejayi scored key goals as the Tykes went on their run to the semi-final.

He had spent part of this season on loan at League One side Walsall.
