Morgan Schneiderlin eyes consecutive Saints promotions
Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin has targeted a second consecutive promotion as the Saints prepare for Championship football next season.
Saints won automatic promotion from League One having finished just three points behind champions Brighton.
"We have an opportunity now to put this club back in the Premier League and that will be in our minds next season," the 21-year-old told BBC Radio Solent.
"We worked hard and we'll enjoy it and come back stronger again next season."
The French midfielder added: "What has happened in the last couple of weeks is something really special.
"Two years ago we went down and it was hard to get back where it should be.
"This season was most difficult because the other teams would say 'Oh we're playing Southampton and this is our cup final.'
"But next year is going to be something different because everyone has the same reputation.
"So we are going to go there on our toes and do the best job we can."
Saturday's match was the midfielder's second appearance since suffering a knee injury in March and he says he is grateful to have recovered by the end of the season.
"I want to say thanks to the medical and coaching staff because they pushed me really hard and I worked really hard.
"I'm happy to have been a part of the last two games and the players and the staff have done really well when I was injured and next year I'm hoping to come back stronger again."
