Carlisle United midfielder Paul Thirlwell has signed a new one-year contract, with an option for a further 12-month extension.
The 32-year-old helped the Cumbrians to Johnstone's Paint Trophy final success in April, and has made 129 appearances, scoring six goals for the club.
"Paul is a model professional," boss Greg Abbott told the club website.
"He is a superb influence in the dressing room, he is one that all of the players look up to."
Newcastle-born Thirlwell initially joined the club on loan from Derby in September 2006, before making the move permanent in January 2007.
He began his career at Sunderland, and went on to enjoy spells at Swindon, Sheffield United and Derby before his switch to Brunton Park.
