Coleraine midfielder Stephen Lowry has signed a three-year contract extension at the Showgrounds.

The news will be a boost for Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney after the departures of highly-rated winger Stephen Carson and top scorer Leon Knight.

Lowry, elder brother of Linfield's Philip, joined Coleraine from Limavady United in January 2010, and has become a regular in the first team.

"Stephen has been in excellent form," Kearney told the club's website.

"There was interest from other clubs, but Stephen was always happy to stay and commit his future to Coleraine.

"He is only 24 and has the best years of his career ahead of him."
