Charlton and Hartlepool played out a goalless draw to end their disappointing seasons.
Bradley Wright-Phillips went close to an opener but his clipped effort came back off the woodwork.
Miguel Llera and Wright-Phillips both forced good saves from Pools keeper Scott Flinders.
Sam Collins hit the bar for the visitors with a thunderous effort before Federico Bessone did likewise for the Addicks.
Charlton boss Chris Powell told BBC London 94.9:
"We were trying our hardest to round off with a win as we have found them quite scarce this year, but the players were quite motivated and sadly it wasn't to be but the only positive was that we got a clean sheet.
"I think the chairman and owner know there is a lot of hard work ahead of us, and they want the best for us. If the fans and the owner and chairman all support us and talk positive, we can get it right on the pitch next year.
"I hope it's Charlton's year as we have some good players but our squad will change and we will have to wait and see, without a doubt we want it to be our year next year."
