Middlesbrough 3-0 Doncaster

Middlesbrough ended their season on a high with their fourth successive victory following a comfortable win over Doncaster.

Barry Robson put the hosts in front two minutes from the break with a free-kick from the edge of the box.

Leroy Lita doubled the lead in the 65th minute with his 99th league goal after converting Andrew Taylor's cross.

And second-half substitute Adam Reach scored in injury time on debut when he finished Kevin Thomson's pass.

The victory ensures Boro finish 12th in the Championship table as well as extending their unbeaten home record to seven matches.

Although Doncaster avoided relegation, finishing in 21st, six points clear of the relegation zone, the south Yorkshire side finished their season without a win in 12 matches, taking only six points from a possible 33.

The hosts began confidently with Robson, Marvin Emnes and Lita all denied by excellent saves from former Scotland keeper Neil Sullivan.

Midfielder Franck Moussa came close to opening the scoring for the visitors when an audacious strike sailed over the crossbar in the 31st minute before low drive just missed Jason Steele's post.

But Boro took the lead when Wayne Thomas brought Lita down on the edge of the area in the 43rd minute, with Robson converting the subsequent free-kick.

Boro maintained the pressure after the break as Lita produced a deft finish past Sullivan before 19-year-old Reach latched onto Thomson's through ball and finished for a memorable debut in the final moments of the match.
