Macclesfield edged a point closer to safety in League Two after they held Southend to a goalless draw.
The Silkmen had goalkeeper Jose Veiga to thank for keeping the scores level, when he saved well from Ryan Hall and Lee Sawyer.
Hamza Bencherif and Colin Daniel both fired wide for the home side as they pushed for a winner.
Tyrone Barnett also clipped the bar late for the Silkmen, who need just one point to secure their safety.
Southend United manager Paul Sturrock told BBC Essex:
"The way Macclesfield play the game is all about set-pieces and long throw-ins and a lot of second balls to be defended against.
"Sometimes you get sucked into playing that way as well, but the second half I was much more pleased with.
"There was a lot of aerial stuff today, but I'm pleased with another clean sheet and our goalkeeper didn't really have a save to make, which I'm quite pleased about."
