Swansea City full-back Ashley Richards will captain Brian Flynn's under-21 team for Wales' opening Uefa Championship qualifier in Andorra.
The 19-year-old will lead young Wales in his ninth under-21 cap as the Welsh hope to start their campaign on a high.
Richards will be alongside Swansea team-mate Daniel Alfei, Cardiff's Adam Matthews and Troy Brown of Ipswich Town in the Welsh defence in Andorra.
Wales are without Swans midfielder Joe Allen who has a shoulder problem.
Andorra are Wales' first opponents in qualifying campaign for the 2013 Uefa Under-21 Championship in Israel.
Wales also share Group Three with Armenia, Montenegro and the Czech Republic.
Wales warmed up for the game with a 2-0 friendly victory over Northern Ireland Under-21 at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground in February.
Brian Flynn's side missed out on the play-offs for this year's final tournament after losing to Italy in their final group game last September.
Andorra finished bottom of their qualifying group, their only point coming courtesy of a 1-1 draw at home against the Faroe Islands.
Their last outing was a 1-0 home defeat to Latvia in the final match of the group in September 2011.
