Tom Daley has withdrawn from the British Gas National Cup to rest an injured thumb ahead of February's FINA Visa World Cup.
Daley, 17, suffered bruising to the thumb in training on the eve of the competition in Southend.
The Plymouth-based diver hopes to return to training next week.
"I missed an entry on my inward three-and-a-half somersaults and it meant that the bone in my thumb became bruised," said Daley.
Daley, who finished seventh in the 10m board final in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing at the age of 14, is confident that he will be able to compete in the World Cup, which starts in London on 20 February and servez as an official Olympic test event.
"I'm going back into normal training next week when we think that the bone will have recovered," he added.
"The build-up to the FINA Visa World Cup will continue and I can't wait to compete in front of the home crowd."
