Mullen disbelief at fifth-placed finish

Jubilant Irish cyclist Ryan Mullen thought he had taken an accidental shortcut after finishing fifth in the world time trial championships in Doha.
The 22-year-old, in his first year as a professional, was a long-time leader of the race against the clock and while eventually finishing over one minute behind winner Tony Martin, Mullen was still faster than many established names.
"I saw all these big names coming in and they're behind me and I'm thinking 'did I take a shortcut or something, have I missed part of the course?" he said.
Mullen will also compete in Saturday's elite road race in Qatar.
