Bradley Wiggins won the individual time trial in the fourth stage of the Bayern-Rundfahrt on Saturday.
Wiggins clinched victory in devastating style, finishing more than 30 seconds clear of Fabian Cancellara in second.
On a perfect day for Team Sky, Geraint Thomas finished fifth to take the overall lead ahead of Sunday's final stage, with Edvald Boasson third.
Thomas, 25, holds a 19-second advantage going into Sunday with Nicki Sorensen in second place.
World and Olympic time trial champion Cancellara had set a target of 30 minutes and 41 seconds around the 26km Friedberg course.
But Wiggins matched the pace, kicking in with a superb final sprint on the Afrastrasse to finish 30.08 seconds ahead of the Swiss.
