May I add my comment as a MCC member who is very sad that Billy is retiring - the atmosphere he helped create on overseas tours was tremendous and will be missed by the travelling fans as well as the players. Enjoy your winters with your family, Billy, and thank you.
I think the trumpet lost. Just. Intentions were good but going by comments... it's not cricket old boy! Good luck with your retirement and please dont advertise for a replacement. Unless he/she is armed with a Harmonica.
Now if only that nawze that keeps smacking that drum during England football games would follow suit. Let's hope.
''257''. Posted by tony on11 hours agoThese "musicians" should be banned from all sporting events. Totally detracts from the event.Id ban Musicians from the Proms, totally spoils the posturing.
Some peace at last for the real England supporters.Michael Vaughan thinks Cooper's wonderful, that tells you all you need to know!The Barmy Army drunkards are well past their sell-by date and not fit to grace the modern game.
Noisy attention seeking individual. Glad he's on his way. Damn nuisance as far as I can see.
So many negative comments on here, the MCC must have dispatched carrier pigeons to their miserable membership telling them to get online!
@375 pullanotherone'Please forgive me for I have sinned.'OK - just this once. 😊
I was always a bit surprised that he was allowed to enter a ground with this trumpet. It could be a nasty weapon in a fight.
@371Please forgive me for I have sinned. My spelling and grammar was not up to scratch today. I hope you will accept mitigation though. I was concerned about world events and what was leading the headlines. Instead I found an article on cricket and thought, something is wrong here.
For now though, he's happy to call it a day: "I don't want to overstay my welcome."He did that when he 1st put it to his lips going by comments on here. I'm sure if he took in a Harmonica it might have not ruffled as many feathers.
I watch the cricket tour tests on sky. What a brilliant atmosphere the barmy army create. I love the trumpet especially the rendition of Jerusalem. Makes me feel English and proud. Cheers Billy 🦡
About time. Funny and original once open a time, but boring, mundane and monotonous now. Time to move on
@370 pullanotheroneYou're (please note not your) not getting it, I'm afraid - news isn't defined by what you regard news to be - there are tens of millions of people who may think differently to you. If you don't like items like which items appear in BBC news, no one is forcing you to click on the website or turn on the radio.
