@179 NSB - Not sure what point you think you are making but Curran's figures in the West Indies were equally awful as they were in Sri Lanka. Not sure what scorecard you looked at.
@213 And Denly top scores on day one with sensible batting Bairstow should stick to white ball cricket where he is at his best
Lunch, and England are 60 for 1 and playing some pretty solid test match cricket. Anybody awake, or have you all gone to bed, crying and cuddling up to your Chris Woakes Teddy bears?
#205 "The selectors are paid to look beyond the stats otherwise they are not needed"Yes indeed now we have a proper home-grown Head Coach in young Silverwood who knows the county scene & players over many years he can be promoted to England Cricket Manager ( like Gareth Southgate) and make the Selection decisions himself with Paul Collingwood as England Coach Then we'll see some action !
1 over 2 balls and were playing wham bam and nearly a run out. We have 5 days play cricket.
First ball to Sibley, full on middle stump and the young lad whips if off his pads for FOUR. This could be the start of something very special for us over the next few years. Come on England Thank You SKY sports cricket for wonderful coverage.
Curran is a curious player, while his left arm medium pace offers that different angle, everyone says he is too slow - yet he does get wickets. And NZ offers the most "English" conditions so good luck.Glad to see Pope back down the order here, putting him at 4 was almost setting him up to fail in 2018.Good luck to both teams - NZ are an immensely likeable side as well.
Right then ladies and gents. WE HAVE LIFT OFF.We have had enough crying and moaning about the lack of Chris Woakes on here, to last a life time, but now Joe Root has won the toss and we are going to bat first. Let's see how these young whizz kids get on against this superb bowling attack. Leeettttssssssssssss get ready to Ruummmbbbbllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeee.
169 I was referring to Sibley, Pope, Denly in the batting line up.. Especially Denly. That guy is stealing a living as an international cricketer... Bairstow is so much better than them three.. Haters will always hate tho... Bairstow will come back stronger for being dropped!! And will be back in the Test side for South Africa, where he will prove it!
209. Posted by the gogHe was the leading test bowler over 12 month period until he hit the wall & had a poor test match. See how the rest suits. He was outstanding in the Blast end of last season. Sorry but I can't see Curran getting 189 wickets or scoring 5x 100's.Mo does seem to have an issue with Australians but he's not alone there. When Jimmy is back for Curran the tail looks long.
Woakes suffers as he has no friends in the media - apart from Nasser Hussain. Even this article mentions his poor overseas record with the ball, but neglects to mention Currans even worse record abroad. Where is the fairness?
