Leinster Lightning beat Knights and win three-day Inter-pro title for fifth straight year

Leinster Lightning beat Northern Knights by an innings and 12 runs at Clontarf after having clinched the three-day inter-provincial title for a fifth straight year a day earlier.

Knights went into the final day's play still 112 runs in arrears and needing to face 104 overs with only five wickets remaining.

James Shannon scored 60 as the Knights were bowled out for 176.

They had no answer to the bowling of George Dockrell who finished with 6-29.

Shannon, who scored 86 in the first innings, was again the main opposition to the tight home bowling.

Lightning ended the campaign with 68 points, while the Knights had 34 and North-West Warriors 31.

Leinster have also completed a clean sweep of Inter-provincial trophies for the second season in a row.
