Middlesex lost two early wickets as they were set a target of 234 to beat winless Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Resuming their first innings on 302-6, Middlesex were all out for 334, matching the Bears' total.

Warwickshire struggled with the bat, as seam bowler Tom Helm took 5-59, but former England batsman Jonathan Trott's 99 helped them to 233 all out.

Middlesex lost Sam Robson and first-innings centurion Stevie Eskinazi for ducks as they closed on 36-2.

Dawid Malan will resume on 19, alongside opening batsman Nick Compton, who reached stumps unbeaten on 17 - including a six and four in the final over the of the day.

With no rain forecast until late on Thursday, a positive result appears the most likely outcome on the final day, with Warwickshire still chasing their first victory of the season.
