@228 ???? What three Yorkshire bowlers?
Unfortunately for England, the Great Kevin Pietersen is not available, so they'll have to make do with the subservient wets who, like Cook, have spoiled the national game.
I have just watched the recording of the England innings, as I recorded the India innings. There is one thing to say, stop sending players to Big bash and the likes.Big money means that they aren't intersted playing for their country. Morgan should resign, the 3 yorkshire bowlers should never wear an England shirt again.Jordan...........well.I have seen some bad performances, but this is the worst.
It's like our England stars in the Premier League..look great on tv at homr but useless on the world stage. Big fish ..small pond comes to mind.
I'm noting that people are saying IPL experience will be just the ticket. I thought two of our 'notables already had it? And it doesn't seem to have done them much good, There's a load of rubbish being inferred there ... you don't improve playing alongside great players, you improve by learning from them, something notably absent!
ECB need to get out of this colonial era attitude of thinking that Ashes are the only thing that matter. World has moved on to 21st century and England is left behind. Start a 10 year program to develop cricketers who can play on any surface in any condition. Provide a progress report to the fans once a year. Invest in grassroot now. Identify a pool of 50 players who can be nurtured.
@220 I dont think an Indian coach or playing associate nation would help. Change of culture required here. Start by sacking ECB administrators. And for god sake who is this Trevor Bayliss? The guy hasn't played an International game ever. When a Train derails you sack the Minister of Transport. He wasn't directly responsible for derailing, but he is where you start. HEADS MUST ROLL, SIMPLE!
My point in the whole Root debate is that he is every bit to blame as everyone else. No less no more. Whether a player comes from Yorkshire or Timbaktu, when they wear National Colours they represent the nation. Root is the anchor and should have anchored better. The others are hitters, they should have hit better. What baffles me about root is that he hardly carries bat at the end of innings.
A huge deal was made of poor umpiring decision against Root in last over of the second ODI for loss. . In this ODI, no mention was made of the poor umpiring decision given against KL Rahul in your report or by Bayliss / Morgan in post match interview, who was given out bowled by Stokes on a no ball. England still lost despite India not given added run, no free hit and loss of wicket, ironic !
What? No blaming the umpiring? Come on Morgan, it's the brownies who've got you to lose this one too!
