Caroline Foster: Former England opener named South West team head coach
Former England opening batter Caroline Foster has been named head coach of the South West women's Super League team.
Foster, born Caroline Atkins, made 17 Test appearances for England, and won 77 caps in limited-overs cricket.
The 35-year-old was previously the first Somerset women and girls' head coach between 2012 and 2014.
"I am passionate about the women's game and I am delighted to have been chosen," she told the Gloucestershire cricket club website.
"The women's game continues to grow at pace and I believe my biggest impact on the sport is ahead of me."
The South West team, which comprises Gloucestershire, Somerset and the University of Exeter, is one of six sides competing in the inaugural Women's Cricket Super League Twenty20 competition in July and August.
