Derbyshire opening batsman Billy Godleman has signed a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old, whose contract expires at the end of the 2017 season, was the club's top scorer in the Championship, with 1,069 runs at an average of 45.

Godleman said: "This summer has been the best year of my career and I'm pleased to have been able to repay the faith the club has shown in me."

Elite performance director Graeme Welch added: "Billy is in a good place and playing the best cricket of his life."
