Riki Wessels hit a career-best 132 as Nottinghamshire qualified for the One-Day Cup quarter-finals with a 49-run win against Middlesex at Lord's.

The opener smashed 12 fours and seven sixes in his 118-ball knock before he was dismissed by Ollie Rayner (4-35).

Steven Mullaney (51) and Luke Fletcher (39) then took the visitors to 295-9.

Former England opener Sam Robson made 88, his highest one-day score, in the chase, but Middlesex fell short as they were bowled out for 246.

Wessels' extraordinary innings saw him score 132 of the 206 runs Notts had made when he was out, reverse sweeping spinner Rayner to deep cover.

Mullaney and Fletcher then turned what threatened to be an average total at 228-7 into a fine one, with an eighth-wicket stand of 63.

Middlesex looked well placed at 152-1, but the wickets of Nick Gubbins (45) and skipper James Franklin in the same over, triggered a collapse as the last nine wickets fell for 95.
