A Northants batting collapse set up a final day victory chance for Glamorgan.

Resuming on 79-5, Josh Cobb and Adam Rossington both hit fifties but Andrew Salter took 3-5 as Northants were all out for 157, a deficit of 214 runs.

Graham Wagg (2-25) had Stephen Peters caught behind for a first ball duck and bowled Kyle Coetzer, as the visitors were reduced to 15-2 following on.

Rob Newton and Rob Keogh shared a 106-run stand before Keogh was run out to leave Northants 163-4, trailing by 51.

Cobb and Rossington had shared a 91-run sixth-wicket partnership but the other nine batsmen managed just 52 runs between them in the away side's first-innings.

Salter, who claimed career-best figures, needed just 17 balls to wreak havoc as he had David Willey caught for six, trapped Cobb lbw for 54 and bowled Maurice Chambers for a second ball duck.

In Northants' second-innings, Newton remained unbeaten on 88 at the close, looking for his first century of the season - having fallen for 95 against Surrey last week - as he aimed to help the visitors avoid a final day defeat.

Glamorgan opening bowler Graham Wagg:

"It was a fantastic effort from us as the wicket got better and better throughout the day, but it's going to be a long hard toil again for us.

"It happened (the same way) against Essex but all of a sudden we managed to sneak a couple out.

"They've got a good partnership together but that does happen here where the wicket goes a bit flatter. I think throughout the day we bowled fantastically."
