Northamptonshire recorded their first Championship win in 21 matches as they beat Leicestershire by 92 runs.
Leicestershire, needing another 332 to win with nine wickets left, lost Angus Robson (32) to Mohammad Azharullah before the next four batsmen fell lbw.
Olly Stone removed Mark Cosgrove, Azharullah got rid of Neil Pinner and Rory Kleinveldt (4-86) dismissed Ned Eckersley (37) and Tom Wells (13).
Niall O'Brien hit 58 off 65 balls before Leicestershire were out for 283.
Northants, who were relegated from Division One in 2014 without winning a single game, had not tasted victory since beating Glamorgan in August 2013.
Their bowlers proved too strong for the hosts, despite at times being wayward - as they gave away 50 extras.
The defeat means Leicestershire are still searching for their first County Championship win since September 2012 when they beat Gloucestershire.
Leicestershire coach Andrew McDonald:
"There were a lot of positives, but there were some crucial periods when we didn't quite execute well.
"You look at a hundred-run deficit and you can probably find more than that where we could have been better.
"Each day you learn about the players, and if we improve from here we'll hold ourselves in good stead.
"We took 20 wickets and created more than 20 opportunities, and that's a real positive when last year we averaged 13 wickets a game."
