Batsman Ian Cockbain has earned a new contract at Gloucestershire to keep him at Nevil Road until 2017.
Cockbain made his debut for the club three years ago and has amassed 1751 first-class runs as well as 1005 in one-day cricket and 771 in Twenty20.
This season, he posted a career best 151 not out against Surrey to help his side to an unlikely draw.
"I believe there are some very exciting times coming up for our squad," said the 27-year-old.
Director of cricket John Bracewell added: "He has predominantly been used as a short-form player over the last few seasons, but his innings of great maturity against Surrey last season showed everyone that he can now move smoothly from white to red ball.
"If he can nail down a permanent place in all forms, he has the tactical nous to one day captain the side."
