|Sussex 248-9 (50 overs) v Middlesex 81-1 (18 overs) - Middlesex win by 21 runs (D/L)|
Middlesex secured their second victory in this season's One-Day Cup as they won a rain-hit match with Sussex by 21 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Openers Chris Rogers (34 no) and Dawid Malan (33) batted sensibly with the weather forecast in mind in reply to the home side's modest total of 248-9.
And they were well ahead of the rate on 81-1 when play was abandoned.
Sussex, thanks mainly to 65 from Chris Nash, looked set for a big total at 174-3 but lost impetus as wickets fell.
Craig Cachopa and Matt Machan had backed up Nash's knock by adding 52 for the fourth wicket.
However, Cachopa (24) was caught behind off Malan and seven wickets fell in 15 overs for just 50 runs.
Toby Roland-Jones impressed with 4-42 and only some last-wicket heroics by Steffan Piolet and Lewis Hatchett rescued the innings, as they put on 24 to give Sussex some hope.
But it was all in vain as Middlesex eased to victory, keeping well ahead of the run-rate with the rain looming.
The win was only their second in the competition and they moved above Sussex into seventh place in Group B on net run-rate.
