|Close, day three: Sussex 311 & 148-3 v Warwickshire 394|
|Warwickshire 6pts, Sussex 5pts|
Warwickshire and Sussex look to be heading for a draw at Edgbaston after a hard-fought third day.
Sussex ended day three on 148-3, a lead of 65, with skipper Ed Joyce and Will Beer unbeaten at the close.
Earlier, Jeetan Patel's unbeaten 78 helped the Bears, who had resumed on 252-6, to a first-innings advantage of 83 as they were bowled out for 394.
Sussex paceman Steve Magoffin took 5-87, making him the leading wicket-taker in Division One this season.
The Australian now has 54 victims in 2013, taking him past Tim Murtagh of Middlesex, after completing his third five-wicket haul of the campaign.
Magoffin removed Keith Barker and Maurice Chambers, but Patel stood firm, hitting nine fours and a six in his 99-ball knock - the New Zealand international scoring his fourth fifty in six first-class innings.
Spinner Patel then claimed the first two wickets of the visitors' second innings, dismissing openers Luke Wells (46) and Chris Nash (27), and although Michael Yardy was run out for 46 late in the day, Joyce and nightwatchman Beer saw Sussex safely through to the close.
Substitute Pete McKay replaced Tim Ambrose behind the stumps for Warwickshire during Sussex's second innings, as the former England wicketkeeper sustained a fractured thumb whilst batting on day two.
