South African batsman Neil McKenzie is set to return to the Hampshire team for Wednesday's County Championship game against Kent at Southampton.
The 37-year-old arrives from South Africa to begin a fourth season at the Ageas Bowl as a non-overseas player.
McKenzie has been playing for Highveld Lions and last month helped them win the domestic T20 title.
"The boys are very much looking forward to getting him back," Hampshire captain Jimmy Adams told BBC Radio Solent.
"He's been a good part of our dressing room for a few years, and we're pretty excited to welcome him back.
"As well as his runs, his presence has always been a boost for us, so it'll be great to have him back around."
