Joe Root ton delights Headingley crowd
Yorkshireman Joe Root thrilled the Headingley crowd with his maiden Test ton as England closed day two of the second Test with New Zealand on 337-7.
After day one was lost to rain, Root, 22, in only his sixth Test, came to the crease with England 67-3 after two wickets fell in successive balls.
He made 104 and shared 124 with fellow Yorkshireman Jonny Bairstow (64).
Both fell along with Stuart Broad (0) within four overs but Matt Prior hit seven fours in an unbeaten 38.
