Peter Trego: Somerset all-rounder signs new contract
All-rounder Peter Trego has signed a new three-year deal with Somerset.
The 31-year-old was named county cricket's Most Valuable Player for 2012 after 897 runs and 67 wickets.
He told the club website: "Signing this new contract means that I will be playing for Somerset into my mid-30s, which is a huge personal achievement.
"Not many players have a career that length so I am very fortunate to get this opportunity with the club that I love playing for."
He added: "These are very exciting times for Somerset and I feel that I have got a lot to offer with regards to us getting that first County Championship under our belts.
"It's great to be given the security of knowing that I am a wanted man at the County Ground."
Trego has spent most of his career with Somerset, as well as having spells with Kent and Middlesex.
Somerset cricket committee chairman Vic Marks said: "We are delighted that Pete has signed a new contract with us.
"Since returning to his home county in 2006 he has been a major force in helping Somerset to become one of the most competitive sides in cricket."
